Summary: is a gateway website for families affected by mental illness. The website is a free service of Laurel House, Inc.

Laurel House, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps individuals and their families achieve and sustain mental health recovery.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist families and individuals who visit and request assistance to develop strategies and identify resources to cope with challenging mental health situations.
  • Coordinate the monitoring, response, follow-up and reporting of all requests for information, support or assistance in referrals to providers.
  • Proactively identify family-friendly mental health providers in the northeast U.S. service region, with a particular emphasis on providers serving or specializing in the young adult population. Assist in vetting of Providers nominated for inclusion in the online Directory of Family-Endorsed Providers.


The Resource Specialist reports to the Clinical Services Manager and works with the Editor in Chief and VP of Resources to Recover to provide personalized mental health information, support and provider referrals to visitors to and affiliated social media who request help.

  • Manage referring relationships with “Family-Endorsed” Providers in’s online directory.
  • Provide personalized service and follow-up to families and persons in treatment who are referred to Providers listed in’s online Directory of Family-Endorsed Providers, including but not limited to: personalized assistance with referrals and admissions; care planning and coordination; facilitated communication between providers, families and persons in treatment; follow-up to monitor satisfaction and outcome of referrals.
  • Assist visitors in navigating the site, directing them to relevant information in the course of routine communications.
  • Assist site visitors who request help with resource information, emotional support and referrals to mental health and related providers via website, email, social media, phone.
  • Provide services as requested to young adults on college campus, via Internet and tele-health channels (e.g., connection to disability services or mental health counseling).
  • Document and update visitor contacts and communications in the CRM database. Maintain Family-Endorsed Provider records in an online database on and update information on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Coordinate and in some cases conduct initial site visits to local nominated Providers. Make periodic update phone calls or visits (if local) to Family-Endorsed Providers featured in the online Directory.
  • Assist the Clinical Services Manager in developing a comprehensive online directory of Providers, information, and resources on, including processing of “Family-Endorsed” nominations and outreach to Providers.
  • Work with the Editor in Chief, the Clinical Services Manager of, and guest bloggers on clinical content appearing on and affiliated social media; occasionally contribute to blog posts or content for site pages on current clinical topics.
  • Participate as a member of the and Laurel House, Inc. team in family-oriented events such as Family Seminars and Open Houses, and occasional mental health conferences and community meetings. Help to increase local and regional visibility of the site, personalized services, and on campus Supported Education for young adults.
