Essential Functions:

Pick up customer furniture donations while adhering to all safety procedures. Load donations on truck and unload at thrift store. Assist store manager as needed, staging displays, clothing, furniture and other goods; applying pricing; providing assistance in store management as directed.


Expected to work as a valued member of the Thrift Store. This job will primarily consist of local pick ups of furniture donations. It involves scheduling of the truck with donors, pickups of donated items, delivery to the Thrift Store in Stamford, and working with clients and volunteers as directed by manager. Oversees assistant on truck who helps with loading and unloading.

  • Operate company owned truck for donation pick ups and transport of furniture and goods as requested.
  • Provide outstanding customer service during donation pick ups and deliveries of goods.
  • Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition (including, but not limited to, cell phone, earpiece, safety belt, GPS, etc.)
  • Plan route to and from donor’s address using a map or GPS.
  •  Arrange pick-up appointment book.
  • Must understand and comply with all OSHA, Department of Motor Vehicles, safety guidelines and general policies and procedures.
  • Promptly document and report any vehicle malfunction to Director of Operations.
  • Conduct routine daily minor maintenance on vehicle (e.g., windshield wiper, transmission fluid, oil).
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, fuel purchases, dump runs, donations received.
  • Complete inventory control sheet at each pick-up site and submit completed form to Store Manager.
  • Drive truck to loading point and consult donor on donated items to be loaded.
  • Give directions to assistant in moving articles to truck.
  • Ensure completion of customer donation receipt(s).
  • Deliver and unload donated items (clothes, furniture, appliances, etc.) to Thrift Store.
  • Replenish store inventory and maintain presentation standards.
