Laurel House, Inc. to honor Randi Silverman, writer and producer of award-winning film “No Letting Go” at April 29th Champions for Recovery Dinner Dance

Laurel House will host its annual Champions for Recovery Dinner Dance on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at The Delamar, Greenwich Harbor. Event proceeds will support Laurel House’s work in providing critical programs and services to those living with mental illness and to their families.

Randi Silverman, co-founder and CEO of The Youth Mental Health Project and award-winning screenwriter and producer of the feature film, NO LETTING GO, is Laurel House’s 2017 Champion for Recovery.  Randi was also recently nominated as one of five finalists to receive the 2017 Child Mind Institute Local Hero Award. The Child Mind Institute is a national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. Their annual Change Maker Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that raise awareness and dispel stigma, help children and families directly, or work to transform the way we understand and treat mental health and learning disorders. Randi is being recognized by Laurel House for her important work in children’s mental health advocacy.

Laurel House will also recognize six Town Champions for their work, advocacy and outreach, making their towns better places in which to live and work. They are outstanding individuals representing towns in Fairfield County served by Laurel House. The other 2017 Town Champions are: Kate Larson, Darien; Tom O’Dea, New Canaan/Wilton; Nancy von Euler, Norwalk/Southport; and Dan Woog, Westport.

Laurel House is grateful to its event honorees for helping give visibility to the need for increased access to mental health services. Mental health disorders affect 1 in 5 adults and 1 in 5 youth aged 13–18 (21.4%) in the United States every year.

The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing to the sounds of James Daniel Entertainment.  To purchase tickets and for more information, please call 203-324-7735 or visit www.501auctions/laurelhouse.
