Position Title: Development Manager
Department: Development
Reports to: President and CEO
Essential Functions:
- Prepare grant applications and funding final reports as required, working with Program Managers (e.g., Supported Education, rtor.org) who provide performance data and outcomes for use in the applications and reporting.
- Oversee work of the Neon CRM Database Administrator to provide timely and accurate data entry and update, produce donor acknowledgement letters, create email and mail outreach lists and run donor reports.
- Lead donor outreach and fundraising initiatives to meet revenue goals, as directed by senior management.
- Contribute to production of external communications on social media, digital marketing support of fundraising campaigns and events, Annual Report preparation, and website messaging refresh for programs (e.g., education, employment, workshops).
Scope:
The Manager supports all Development Department functions and initiatives, including grant application preparation, correspondence to donors, and event management support for the spring Annual Fundraiser and the fall 5K Walk/Run. The Manager leads CRM database management and production of donor acknowledgement letters, providing leadership to CRM Administrator. The Development Manager takes a lead role in fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation as directed by senior management. The Manager has the ongoing support of contracted resource for: design and production of collateral materials; social media; website updating; video production; and support for the annual fundraising event.
Job Criteria
- Build proficiency in use of CRM software to manage all aspects of CRM donor database implementation; ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry, data hygiene and donation receipt (48 hour acknowledgement). Coach CRM Administrator for growth in role.
- Take a lead role in grant applications and funding reporting as required, working closely with Program Managers who provide outcomes, performance data and success stories.
- Actively participate in planning and execution of spring Annual Fundraiser including sponsorships, ticket sales, auction items and program book ads, and in similar capacity for the fall 5K Walk/Run help drive registration and sponsorships.
- Provide marketing support as needed for external communications and other marketing deliverables such as updated program flyers, program and client event announcements.
- Maintain and publish dashboard (existing) for Annual Appeal results and Grant Requests in Process reports, working with Finance Department for donation and funding reconciliation.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- 3 years’ experience in fundraising, business development or related marketing.
- Strong interpersonal and persuasive communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to interact confidently with donors and sponsors, by email, phone and in-person.
- Experience in budgeting, project and event management for revenue attainment for a nonprofit organization and/or business development for a for-profit company.
- Experience with use of a CRM/donor database or fundraising software.
- Computer literacy in use of MS Word, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, email, internet, and familiarity with standard database applications required.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills and demonstrated ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the organization’s team.
- Experience in successfully implementing digital marketing and social media campaigns on facebook, Instagram, and X.
- Must successfully pass the pre-employment drug test.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
Job Type:
Full – Time in the Stamford, CT office and the lower Fairfield County area. 1 day per week work-from-home available, as coordinated with Development Department coverage, with additional flexibility as needed. Support of two Saturday events is required (spring Annual Fundraiser and fall 5K Walk/Run). Early close (3:00 pm) on Friday afternoons.
